HOW IT WORKS

Your own website.

1
Pick your spot — smashpc.com/you. It stays yours for as long as you want it.
2
Describe your page, and it builds itself.
Say "garden photos with vine borders" and watch it happen. Adjust anything you like afterward — there is nothing to install and nothing you can break.
3
Post when you have something to say.
Each day, you can pick one post to send to the people who follow you. They see it in their feed, newest first. That's the whole algorithm.
4
Upgrade and add features when you want.
Move up to a whole site at a name of your own — live today, here's how. Traditional cPanel hosting for people who build their own is on the way.

Monthly means month to month. It is not a contract and you are not signing up for a year — stop whenever you like and the service runs out at the end of what you paid for. Renewal costs what signup costs. No asterisks.

Rather pay for a whole year at once? You can, at checkout — the website is $100 a year with your domain name included, which comes to less than paying month by month. We would rather you knew that here than found it later.

BUY A DOMAIN

Own your domain name.

Payment is handled securely by Stripe. Every domain is registered in your name with an ICANN-accredited registrar — not in ours.

Want the whole thing — your own site at your own name?

  1. Join and tell us the name you want.
  2. Describe the site you want and it builds itself. Change anything you like afterward.
  3. The name is registered to you and pointed at your site by itself. There is nothing to set up.

What it costs. Your first month is $18. That pays for your name for a whole year. After that it is $10 a month. Once a year your name comes up for renewal, and that is $18 again — the same as the first time.

Already own a name? Then there is nothing to buy. It is $10 a month from the start, and two settings connect the name you have.

ABOUT

smashPC has been at this address since 2009, run out of Palatine and serving Chicagoland ever since. Web hosting was on the price list by 2013 and it never came off.

Today smashPC focuses on domain names and websites for anyone who wants one of their own. Still a small shop. Your email reaches a person, not a queue.

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT

Most places you post are free, which means your attention is what is being sold. The feed never ends by design, and what you see is picked for you. None of that is carelessness. It is built that way deliberately, and the harm it does to people's time and attention is simply the cost of somebody else's business model.

smashPC costs $2 a month, and that is the entire business model. One post a day goes out to the people who follow you, and your feed ends when you have seen it. Nobody's page is ranked above anyone else's, because there would be nothing in it for us.

The internet is useful. It just doesn't have to be a slot machine.

WHERE WE STAND

smashPC is a Christ-honoring business. That shapes what we are willing to put our name on, and we would rather tell you plainly here than surprise you later. Anyone is welcome to have a page.

A page that is suggestive, or that is set up to phish people, goes dark straight away. We don't need to debate it first. What you made is still yours — you have thirty days to take your export with you, and your domain was registered in your name from the start. After that it no longer sits on our servers or in the network.
